Esther V. Thompson, 90, of Muncie, and formerly of Springport, died Thursday evening, May 2nd, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born April 1st, 1923 in Byrdstown, TN, and was the daughter of the late Lifford & Effie (Rigney) Abbott.
Esther retired in 1970 from the Ball Corporation, with 27 years of service. She had a green thumb, and loved to garden and to yard work. Esther was a hard working person who was a loving, giving, person who always helped others.
Esther is survived by a very special caring nephew Steven Abbott (Dawn) of Muncie; nieces Kathy Crum (Clester) of Springport, and Linda Welch (Doug) of Muncie; several other nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Icel Thompson in 2008; two brothers, and a sister.
Funeral Services for Esther will be held Tuesday, May 7th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Fran Bullock officiating. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. up until the service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Oak Tree Ministries or ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) with envelopes provided at the funeral home. Esther''s family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff of the Lynd House, for the loving care they gave to Esther.
