Esther Ruth Burt passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017. She was the last of twelve children born to Merle Edison and Bridia Amanda Burgess Vannatter.
Esther attended Gaston Schools and graduated from Muncie Central High School. She was a member of Eden Church for over 70 years. She and her husband farmed for many years then managed Vannatter Paint Company for almost 20 years. After she retired she worked for son Dr. Richard Burt''s office for several years.
She loved to cook for her family, played cards and other games. Her hobbies were fishing, gardening and bird watching. She loved her flowers.
Surviving are her son''s John (Joan) Burt, Carmel IN; Donald (Janice) Burt, Sandy Utah, daughter Margy Rogers from Marietta, GA., and a daughter-in-law Susie Burt of Eaton. Thirteen grandchildren Susanne Williams, Marcus Roger, Ryan Roger, Julie Parker, Jennifer Newman, Jayne Merryman, C.W. Burt, Richard Burt, Kristen Burt, Benjamin Burt, Kelli Clanin, Christopher Todd Burt and Joli Ruth Burt-Milligan, 17 Great Grandchildren, One Great Great Grandchild Kale Leingang and several Nieces and Nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carroll Burt; Son Richard W. Burt, Grandson Richard Gillispie Rogers, 5 Brothers Harrell, Darrell,Merrill, Leon and Francis Vanatter and 6 sisters; Bernice Corey, Maybelle Poorman, Reba Richards, Freda Button, Evelyn Jacob and Maxine Conde.
Funeral Service for Esther will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Hayden officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.
