Eugene Samuel Hayes, 73, of Muncie, IN, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009. He was born on December 13, 1935 in Jamestown, TN to the late Ottis and Maggie (Pennycuff) Hayes. Eugene married the love of his life, Rose Marie Burke, in 1958 and was married for 49 wonderful years.
Eugene worked for Chevrolet (New Venture Gear) as a machine operator for 30+ years before retiring. Eugene also worked for Frank''s Foundry, Muncie, for 5 years. Eugene also loved to vegetable garden, collect guns & knives, watch Western movies, sightsee, and admired and traded cars. But more importantly, Eugene was a family man whom loved his family much.
Surviving relatives include his daughter, Donna Hayes (fianc: Bruce Gruwell) of Muncie, IN; brothers Olden Harrold'' Hayes of Muncie, IN; Paul Hayes and M. D. Hayes (wife: Pauline) both of Jamestown, TN; grandsons Josh Hayes (fianc: Atte Hamilton) and Charles Smith (fianc: Sarah Lewis), all of Muncie, IN; and great-grandson Titus Hayes.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife Rose Marie Hayes of 49 years; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Denny Helton will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
