Eugene W. Metcalf of Muncie, Indiana passed away at the age of 92 on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Elmcroft of Muncie. He was born on December 18, 1928 in Greentown, Indiana to the late William H. and Effie Jane (Perry) Metcalf.

Eugene served in the United States Army from March 31, 1947 until September 30, 1948. He married Ruth Ann Reed on May 5, 1951 in Alexandria, Indiana. They just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He worked for General Motors for 31 years before retiring in 1981. He also worked a second job for 40 years at Heritage Farms on Perdieu Road in Muncie. He was an 82-year member of Corinth Congregational Cristian Church in Muncie, Indiana. He also attended Bethel Church in Muncie, Indiana. He loved his family and church, and he loved to travel.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruth Ann (Reed) Metcalf; daughters, Sandra Lee (Jack) of Shelbyville, Indiana, Sharon Jackson of Yorktown, Indiana, Shirley Keller (Tim) of Bothell, Washington, and Janice Hassett (Ron) of Gaston, Indiana; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Effie Jane (Perry) Metcalf; son, Richard Metcalf; eight brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 PM, also in the Funeral Home, officiated by Tracy Brown. The family will livestream services to Sandra Lee's Facebook page. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
