Obituary

Ferrell S. Dewees, 93, of Gaston, IN died Friday May 2, 2008 in Muncie, IN. He was born on September 22, 1914 in Delaware County, IN the son of Samuel and Eliza (Rench) Dewees. He graduated from Gaston High School in 1932. On April 21, 1944 in Hartford City, IN he married Hilda (Dick) Dewees who survives.
Ferrell was a member and deacon of the Union Grove Church of Brethren. He was also a member of the Indiana Farmers Union and the Delaware County Farm Bureau. He was a past Lions Club President in Gaston, IN. He enjoyed farming and horses.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife of 64 years, Hilda Dewees of Gaston, IN; one son, Robert Dewees (wife: Janet) of Gaston, IN; two daughters, Dena Niccum (husband: Gary) of Yorktown, IN; Debbie Hertle (husband: Gerald) of Gaston, IN; one sister, Martha Wallar of TN; eight grandchildren, Vickie Raborn of Silverton, Oregon; Lane Dewees of Miamisburg, OH; Trent Dewees (wife: Kari) of Columbia, IL; Kyle Love of Gaston, IN; Brett Dewees (wife: Jennifer) of Muncie, IN; Gina Childers (fianc: Michael Stephens) of Muncie, IN; Jason Niccum (wife: Cami) of Brownstown, IN; Jared Niccum (wife: Laura) of Seymour, IN; ten great-grandchildren; Dustin and Kristian Raborn; Alyssa, Mathew, and Blake Dewees; Jacob and Jaclyn Love; Gara Childers; Brinley and Hope Niccum, and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bernice Brinson.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday May 9, 2008 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Bob Ewert will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Union Grove Church of Brethren in memory of Ferrell Dewees. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Doctor Adrian for all of his care.
