Floyd "Leon" Stockton, 89, of Hartford City, died Wednesday morning, January 21st, 2015 at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Portland. He was born November 23rd, 1925 in Warren, IN and was the son of the late Bluford & Violet (Creek) Stockton.
Leon farmed in the Hartford City area; he enjoyed maintaining and keeping his farm in order. He was very proud of his farm and he built his own home. Leon was proud of his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Leon retired in 1989 from St. Joe''s Paper in Hartford City. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and visiting family.
Leon is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Leavera Agnes (Vore) Stockton of Portland; his five children Larry Stockton (Wanda) of Summerville, SC, Martha Jane Weatherman of Hartford City, Linda Thomas (Dick) of Hartford City, Marilyn Bridges of Indianapolis, and Jerry Stockton; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard & Opal Stockton, a sister and brother-in-law Dorothy & Gene Sutton.
Funeral Services for Leon will be held Monday, January 26th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home. Burial with military honors being conducted by the United States Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call Sunday, January 25th, 2015 from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
