Forrest Leon McCoy, 90, passed away at his home on November 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.. He was born on September 4, 1921 in Gaston, IN the son of Frank and Della (Nicholson) McCoy. On December 24, 1947 in Muncie, IN he married Shirley Ann (Neal) McCoy.
Forrest retired from Delco Battery after 33 years of Service. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Muncie Barber Shoppers for several years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Ann McCoy of Muncie, IN; one daughter, Leigh Ann Jones (husband: Randy) of Muncie, IN; one daughter-in-law, Laura McCoy of St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren, Ashlee Mastin and Adam Jones of Muncie, IN; Kelly, Stephen and Tyler McCoy of St. Louis, MO; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Leon McCoy; his parents; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday November 21, 2011 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. The Delaware County Honor Guard will provide military rites at the graveside. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
