Francis Elmer Graves, 98 of Hartford City, died late Friday evening, February 2, 2018 at IU Health Blackford Hospital. He was born December 8, 1919 in Montpelier and was the son of the late John E. & Delphia (Hummer) Graves.

Francis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Francis retired from Borg Warner after 30 years of service; he loved farming and had farmed in Wells County.

Francis is survived by his three children Cheryl Romine (Brian) of Hartford City, Dardanella Falls of Muncie, and Robert Graves (Carolyn) of Warren; two step-children Fred Bailey (Beth) of Hartford City and Bonnie Small of Astor, FL; six grandchildren David Cross of Muncie, Jeff Cross (Heather) of Ft. Myers, FL, Brett Romine (Michelle) of Hartford City, Andrew Romine (LeAnn) of Muncie, Lee Romine of Norman, OK and Robyn Tate (Chris) of Indianapolis; seven great-grandchildren; a brother Fred Graves of Dugger, IN and a sister Sharon Snyder of Montpelier. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Adaleatha (Martin) Graves; three brothers and five sisters.

A Private Memorial Service will be held in the spring.  Arrangements have been placed into the trust and care of Garden View Funeral Home.
