Fred Ray "Butch" Duncan, 72, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at his home with his family at his bedside.
He was born in Muncie, November 30, 1937, the son of Fred and Nellie (Carter) Duncan. Butch graduated from Muncie Central High School and attended Ball State University.
Fred was a member of Riverside United Baptist Church for seventeen years where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and on the Board of Trustees. He had been an active member at Northside Church of God for the past four years. Fred was an amazing disciple of Christ.
He retired from Perfection Bakeries Inc. of Fort Wayne after 30-plus years of service. Fred was an Account Executive for Marsh Supermarkets' private bread label.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Christine; three daughters, Lisa Carroll, Yorktown, Leann Rector, (husband, Bob), Muncie and Sherri Sturges (husband, Bruce), Chagrin Falls, Ohio; two sons, Christopher Duncan, (wife, Summer), Muncie and Joshua Duncan, (wife, Jessica), Muncie; nine grandchildren, Zach and Alyssa Carroll, Yorktown, Bryce and Rachel Rector, Muncie, Amanda Sturges, Beverly Hills, California, Meghan Sturges, Chargin Falls, Ohio, Chloe and Quintin Duncan, Muncie and Ava Duncan, Muncie; one sister, Phyllis Tobey, Muncie; several nieces and nephews; many friends; and his faithful dog, Sidney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry; granddaughter, Cassidy; two sisters, Vetrice Denny and Ione Butner; and one brother, Ogle Duncan.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 6, 2010 at The Northside Church of God with Pastor Daryl Parsons and Pastor Jeff Veatch officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, or one hour prior to service time at the church on Saturday.
