Obituary

Fred A. Dodd, 89, of Muncie, IN died on Friday October 5, 2007 after a 17 day visit at Parker Health Care in Parker City, IN. He was born on January 11, 1918 in Soddy, TN the son of Lloyd and Lela (Melton) Dodd. On May 2, 1942 in Rossville, GA he married Iva L.(Knight) Dodd who preceded him in death in 2000.
Fred was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed many years with his children and grandchildren. He loved traveling and gardening. He also enjoyed raising roses, flowers, and baby chicks. He worked for Brodericks Boiler Company and Ball Brothers Corporation for 37 years. He was a master electrician for over 53 years in Delaware County. He was a member of the Wilbur A. Full Lodge #744 where he was a charter officer and past master.
Surviving relatives include son, Robert Dodd (wife: Karen) of Selma, IN; daughter, Sandra Scott (husband: Donald) of Sellersburg, IN; daughter, Shirley Liggett (husband: Jerry) of Muncie, IN; son, Arnold Dodd (wife: Teresa) of Hartford City, IN; daughter, Sharon Druckemiller of Muncie, IN; daughter, Margie Martin of Muncie, IN; one sister-in-law, Elma Dodd of Hixson, TN; one daughter-in-law, Janeen Dodd of Muncie; 21 grandchildren, Tom Vore, John Dodd, Barbara Dodd, David Dodd, Mark Dodd, Krystal Dodd, Cheryl Ruetz, Rodney Scott, Rebecca Szalwinski, Rhonda Schliessman, Reashea Reed, Chad Dodd, Michael Dodd, Craig Nuckols, Carrie Cherry, Melissa Illuzzi, Chris Martin, Shaun Dodd, Bryan Dodd, Amanda Viel; 39 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, and one close friend, Jim Walters of Muncie, IN.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Iva L. Dodd; Parents; one son, Charles Dodd; one grandson, Robert Dodd, Jr.; two brothers, two step-brothers and two step-sisters.
Service are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 9, 2007 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Terry Hinds will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Masonic Home or the New Hope Hospice.
