Freda Mae Johnson, 82, of Muncie, IN died Monday February 2, 2009 at her residence. She was born on September 25, 1926 in Muncie, IN the daughter of Edward and Hazel Ruby (Johnsonbaugh) Dowling. She graduated from Royerton High School. On March 2, 1947 she married Marion Johnson.
She was a member of the Gethsemane United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteer work at the church. She was a member of Pi Omicron, a chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, and was active with her sorority sisters. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. For several years she and her husband owned and operated Johnson''s TV and Appliance. She also enjoyed selling Mary Kay.
Surviving relatives include her loving husband of 62 years, Marion A. Johnson of Muncie, IN; one daughter, Vicci L. Craver of Indianapolis, IN; granddaughter, Rachelle Phillips (husband: Mike) of Yorktown, IN; grandson, Jarod Johnson (wife: Lazette); granddaughter, Courtney Barnhill (husband: Travis) of Indianapolis, IN; five great-grandaughters, Kaitlyne and Taylor Phillips both of Yorktown, IN; Daelyn and Brinsley Johnson both of Cumming, GA; Noel Barnhill of Indianapolis, IN; four great-grandsons, Grant Phillips of Yorktown, IN; Hunter and Austin Barnhill both of Indianapolis, IN; Adler Johnson of Cumming, GA; one sister, Annajene Dorerty (husband: Bill) of Coldwater, MI;

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Jerrold Patrick Johnson, and one sister Helen LaVelle.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday February 6, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Martha Lyon will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be Thursday February 5, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
