IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frederick A.
Morris
November 29, 1949 – January 11, 2026
Frederick Allen Morris, age 76, Parker City, died on Sunday, January 11, at 12:15am at home after a courageous, nearly 4-year battle against acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Fred was the only child of Bill and Delores Morris, Muncie, a 1968 graduate of Muncie Southside, and a 1973 engineering graduate of Purdue University.
At Purdue, Fred met his wife Linda, and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage, logging many miles in their travel trailers to bluegrass concerts, dirt track races, train trips, riverboat cruises, and other notorious locations. His hobbies also included fishing at Lake Tippecanoe (especially with his grandsons), attending BSU basketball and volleyball games, landscaping, gardening, stock trading, and sharing his wisdom to all who asked. Fred was a well-respected area farmer for over 50 years in Randolph and Delaware counties, where his no-till farming practices were among the first in the area and his vegetable gardens were enjoyed by friends and customers for many years.
Fred was one of the really good guys, always lending a helping hand and a kind word, always working hard to support his family and friends, and always sharing a listening ear and hearty laugh. He believed a handshake was as binding as a contract, that everyone deserved to be treated fairly and honestly, family is of utmost importance, and that curiosity and learning should never stop. His lifelong motto was to be kind to everyone, and they will be kind to you. His health issues demonstrated his fierce will and determination and his appreciation of each new day, even the very challenging ones. Through every difficult hospital stay, he was always among the favorite patients because he treated all the staff with respect and gratitude.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law. Fred leaves behind his wife Linda, daughter Dr. Leslie Dunn, son-in-law Dr. Robert Dunn, grandsons Emmett and Graham Dunn, sister-in-law Donna Roman, brother-in-law Alan Roman, bonus family Jamie, Jonathan, Raelyn and Declan Harshman, many cousins and too many friends to list.
Special thanks to Dr. Brian Lumpkin, Nurse Katie Case, Dr. Mehta, Dr. Sayar, Stacy Dye and the amazing staff of the south tower, third floor, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Fair Haven (who supported Fred and Linda through their cancer journey), 1702 W 16th St, Indianapolis 46202 or to the Ball State Cardinal Excellence Fund, connect.bsu.edu.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 IN-3, Muncie, Indiana 47303.
Immediately following visitation, a service celebrating Fred's life will begin at 2:00 pm.
A private Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.
