Gail Duard Hollis, 95, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Elmcroft of Muncie. Duard was born to Harley and Martha (Oren) DeMoss on January 4, 1922, in Parker City, Indiana.
Duard married Rose Ann (Cowley) Hollis in August 1940. While working at Borg Warner as a machine operator for 34 years (retiring in 1984), he was also a self-employed farmer. For many years he was a Dunkirk Moose member, affiliated with Borg Warner Sympathy Club, and a member of the U.A.W. Local 287.
Duard loved dogs, dancing, woodworking, and in his later years he enjoyed watching basketball.
Duard is survived by his two children, a son; David J. Hollis (Linda) of Yorktown and a daughter; Barbara Holmes (Jim) of Muncie, 3 grandchildren; Jeffrey Holmes (Jeri), Teresa Wilder (Bill), Randal Hollis (Denise), 5 great grandchildren and his loving companion Leona Mahnensmith of Ossian.
Duard is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
A funeral service for Duard will be held at Garden View Funeral Home on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 2:30 PM. Friends may call from 1:00 PM until time of the service on Sunday. A private burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to ARF.
