Gail J. (McClellan) Louks, 87, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, IN. Born in West Frankfort, IL, on February 11, 1935, she was the daughter of George and Amber (Dobson) McClellan.

While an infant, Gail's father died in a coal mine explosion, after which the family moved to Detroit, MI, then later to Dunkirk, IN. There she met her future husband, John Louks. They married on July 13, 1957. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in July 2022. From that marriage Gail was mother to 5 children, Scott Louks (deceased); Kim (Twyla) Louks, Muncie; Wayne (Rhonda) Louks, Warsaw; Julie Fairweather, Indianapolis; and Joni Louks, Fort Wayne.

Gail spent her life caring for the home and children. The children's growing up years occurred when the family was living in Muncie. This brought about a constant flow of friends of the children to and from the house. Gail welcomed them all with open arms, and many times with a plate of goodies. As time went on, one could find those friends of the children at Gail's house without the children present, but just to visit with Gail. She was generous to a fault, loved to knit scarfs and hot pads which she would give to everyone she met. She managed to keep an upbeat attitude even as the years robbed her of her hearing, then her eyesight. But Gail's crowning glory was her faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. She had forgone attending church services due to her early onset hearing loss, so she ministered to others with letters accompanied by articles she had clipped from publications, and always with lyrics of gospel songs that had touched her. This only stopped when her eyesight failed to the point she could no longer write letters or read publications.

Gail is survived and will be sorely missed by her husband, John, children Kim, Wayne, Julie and Joni; grandchildren: Mista Whited,  Jeremy Louks, Allison Brant, Amber Louks, Jessica (Sean) Brincefield and Kennedy Louks; Machelle Snyder and Marci Louks; Jackson, Mitchell, Grace and Margaret Fairweather; several great and great great grandchildren; cousins, Sharon (Bill) Morgan, Lynda Alvarado, and nephews Bryan and Ryan McClellan.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, son, Scott Louks; brother, Ronald McClellan; Granddaughter, Brookley Louks.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Garden View Funeral Home at 10501 N. St. Rd. 3, Muncie, IN 47303 at 1:00 P.M.
