Garold Gene Roberts, 59, passed away Saturday morning, January 8, 2011 at Muncie Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
He was born September 3, 1951 in Muncie the son of Delbert and Thelma (Mason) Roberts and graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1969.
Mr. Roberts was a district manager at Sara Lee Bakery for over forty years.
He was a member of Eagles Lodge #1771 in Alexandria and AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics). Gene also enjoyed fishing, bowling, and dancing.
Surviving are his wife of thirty-nine and a half years, Debbie; a son, Michael Eugene Roberts (wife, Angela Nichole), Muncie; two grandchildren, Allie Nichole and Logan Michael; his parents, Delbert and Thelma Roberts, Muncie; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Beverly Johnson, Muncie; a sister, Karen Burke (husband, Mitch), Selma; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bruce and Shiela Johnson, Muncie; a sister-in-law, Nancy Douglas, San Antonio, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service on Wednesday.
