Garry David Barttrum, 61, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Community Hospital. Garry was born on February 13, 1949 to the late Lewis Melvin and Mary Ellen Lash Barttrum in Canton, IL.
Mr. Barttrum served in the Army from 1967--1969 as a paratrooper. Garry worked as a semi truck driver for McCammon Trucking in Hartford City for many years as well as other company''s. He enjoyed the great outdoors encompassing fishing, camping, the Florida beaches, and cookouts with family and friends. He also enjoyed golfing and traveling. And his children and grandchildren say he was an AMAZING father and grandfather.
Garry is survived by his 2 daughters: Carolyn Sue Barttrum of Anderson and Teresa Barttrum of Chicago; 4 sisters: Becky Marden (husband, Wayne) of Spring Hill, FL; Diane Snyder of Spring Hill; Linda Keihn (husband, John) of Brooksville, FL; and Sandra Tomasek (husband, Bill) of Spring Hill; 3 brothers: Butch Barttrum (wife, Carol) of Brooksville; Terry Barttrum (wife, Janie) of Muncie; and Mike Barttrum (wife, Irene)of Hartford City; 3 grandchildren: Morgan Ball of Farmland; Taryn Barttrum of Anderson; and Treyvon Barttrum of Anderson; friend and mother of his children Brenda Laurin of Farmland; and several nieces & nephews.
Garry was preceded in death by his parents; brother Chuckie Barttrum; sister Mary Elizabeth Barttrum; and daughter Christy Barttrum.
The family has requested no gathering for visitation. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th Street, Marion, at 11:00 AM.
