Gearld Foister, 90, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Paw-Paw, Per, and friend, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital. Gearld was born on August 6, 1920 in Lee County, KY to the late Granville and Flonnie (Huffaker) Foister. Gearld is a U.S. Army veteran. And on February 18, 1966 he married his love Betty Henn in Mt. Summit, IN.
Gearld was a machine operator for Warner Gear for many years before retiring in 1976. He was a gentle man; a loving man; and a family man who loved all. He knew no one as a stranger. Gearld loved taking family cruises; visiting Las Vegas; loved the outdoors; was an avid UK basketball and Cincinnati Reds fan; and was a collector of Eagles. He also loved to golf and bowl, was a member of Maple Wood Golf Club for many years, as well as a member of Warner Gear Sympathy Club.
Gearld is survived by his loving wife Betty of 45 years; children: Frank Mitchell Foister (wife, Vera) of Hartford City; JoAnne Sexton (husband, Jack) of Danville, KY; Sheri Landis of Muncie; Raymond Stanley (wife, Marie) of Mooresville; and David Stanley of Indianapolis; brother Kenneth Foister of Monticello, KY; 3 sisters: Faye Massengale (husband, Leonard) of Indianapolis; Christine Morrow (husband, Omer) of Monticello, KY; and Audrey Bell (husband, Butler) of Monticello, KY; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Gearld was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers: Howard, Johnny, Cecil, and Orace Foister; and sister Ila Turner.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie as well as on Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday.
