MUNCIE - Gene E. Rogers, 82, of Muncie passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 7, 1927 in Parker City to Harold and Martha (Cook) Rogers.
He was a machine operator at Chevrolet of Muncie for 37 1/2 years. Gene was a former member of I.O.O.F .and worked as a volunteer at Cop Shop #9. Also he was a member of the American Bowling Association and loved to Bowl. Gene was a member of U.A.W. Local #499. He also had a love for C. B. radios and was a Ham Radio Operator. Gene's handle on the C.B. radio was Corndog. He was a proud army veteran who served during WW II. Also Gene loved to fish.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-three years, Blanche (Price) Rogers; three children, son, Dennis G. Rogers (wife, Jan) Memphis, Tennessee, daughter, Lucretia Gayle Beard (husband, Stan); Muncie, son Charles G. Rogers (wife, Belinda) Goshen; seven grandchildren, Kevin A. Rogers (wife, Sherri), Germantown, Tennessee, Stefan C.Rogers (wife, Amy) Bartlett, Tennessee, Megan D. Epperson (husband, Lonnie) Cordova, Tennessee, Douglas W. Bailey (wife, Tonya) Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Derek G. Bailey, Muncie, Andrea N. Bailey (husband, Heath), Indianapolis, Benjamin S. Rogers (wife, Aimee) Memphis, Tennessee; one step-granddaughter, Megan T. Fleischer; Goshen.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joan Fisher.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010 at Parson Mortuary with Rev. Steve Graves officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the mortuary.
Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard at the cemetery.
