Geneva Dorene McCarty of Muncie, Indiana passed away at the age of 89 the afternoon of Monday, June 21, 2021. She was born on November 16, 1931 in Scott County, Tennessee to the late Harvey and Elsie (Waters) Blevins.

Geneva married Sherman McCarty, Jr. on August 5, 1950. She worked in housekeeping at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana for 13 years until her retirement in 1989. She previously attended Bethel United Baptist Church in Muncie, Indiana. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She enjoyed shopping, crafts, and knitting. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Geneva is survived by her son, Eddie D. McCarty of Hagerstown, Indiana; one daughter, Paula K. Smith of Anderson, Indiana; two daughters-in-law, Janette McCarty and Diana McCarty; one brother, Arnold Blevins of Muncie, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jason Boots, Melia McCarty, Meagan McCarty, and Adam McCarty; two great grandchildren, Dominique Douglas and Logan Boots; one great-great grandchild, Lennox Douglas; and several nieces and nephews.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Elsie (Waters) Blevins; her husband, Sherman McCarty; one son, Wendell A. McCarty; one son-in-law, Johnny Smith; two brothers, Hollis Blevins and Collum Blevins; and three sisters, Edna Sexton, Helen Davis, and Matilda Keith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 PM, also in the Funeral Home.
