George R. (Bob) Watkins passed away April 18, 2016 at the age of 89. He was born September 24, 1926 to Merle V. and Clara Benton Watkins in Anderson, Indiana. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army from 1950-1952. Bob was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.
He married Helen Ruth Grizzle from Sylacauga, Alabama January 19, 1952. Besides his wife, Ruth, Bob is survived by Patricia G. Griffith, daughter, his son, Gary R. Watkins (Katie), grandson, Geoffrey Robert Watkins, and his granddaughter, Rebecca Watkins, his sister, Patricia Ritchison, and sister-in-law, June Watkins. He also has two nieces and two nephews surviving. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, William Watkins.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Rev. Charlotte Overmyer officiating , military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer''s Association, 50 E 91st Ste 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Garden View Funeral Home
