George Robert Hines, 74, of Muncie, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 at his residence. He was born November 4th, 1939 in New Castle, IN, and was the son of the late Eugene & Leona (Williams) Hines.

George retired in 1996 from Ball Corporation as a Data Center Manager. He was very active with computer programming and administration. George was a consultant for Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana Glass, and was an E7 Army Programmer. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1961-1967. George loved playing and watching basketball, Day Trading, photography, and jogging.

George is survived by his four children; Brandon Hines (Charine) of Camby, IN, Aaron Hines (Courtney) of Fishers, IN, Brian Hines (Sandy) of Flint, MI, and Christina Richards (Larry) of Santa Monica, CA; four grandsons, Joel Richards of Dillon, CO, Derek Richards of Richmond, VA, Zachary Hines of New Castle, IN, Alexander Hines of Camby, IN; a granddaughter Alicia Kueny of Salem, OR; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Remi Kueny of Salem, OR; two sisters, Phyllis Dorn (Stewart) and Sarah Murphy (Jerry) both of New Castle, IN; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Richard "Dick" Hines.

A Memorial Reception will be held Sunday, June 1st, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North STRD 3, Muncie, IN 47303. Memorial Contributions may be made to AMVETS Post # 12, 7621 North State Road 3, Muncie, IN 47303, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
