George Ell Lindsey was born Sept. 3, 1916 in Saltillo, TN. to Hurl David and Nancy Lindsey.
He departed this earthly life on Nov, 3, 2012.At age 3 the family moved to Mounds, IL. He Graduated from Douglas High School and took 1 year of Commercial Law. He also served as
Superintendent of the St. Paul A.M.E. Sunday School. He served in the 1930''s with the Civilian Conservation Corps - planting hundreds of trees throughout Missouri. On Oct. 13, 1936 he and Amanda May Scott (deceased) were married. In 1943 they relocated to Muncie, IN. George worked at the Indiana Steel and Wire Mill 36 years.
He joined Bethel A.M.E. Church and became an active member, singing in the choir, Steward
and Trustee. He loved taking part in the Christmas plays. In 1982 he received a call to the ministry. After finishing his studies he was ordained an Elder in the A.M.E. Church by the Bishop Hubert Robinson at Gary, IN. He was appointed Pastor of the Modock, IN. A.M.E. church and served there several years. He later joined Paramount Community Church where the Rev. Charlotte Levi (deceased) was Pastor. Rev. Lindsey became the Assoc. Pastor. He preached 4th Sundays, serving faithfully until his health began to decline.
Preceding him in death, gd. daughter, Lynnette Reed, gt. gd. daughter, Brittany Parks, gt. gt. gd. daughter Tatyana Hamilton and niece, Anita Freeman.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Loretta McIntosh Lindsey and May Frances (Norman) Reed, Nashville, TN., sister, Margie Young of Louisville, KY., Siblings preceding him in death, Herbert, Joe, Pauline Ridgeway, Elmer, and Eura Marshall. Carolina, Rachel (Chris) Paul, N. Carolina, Jourdan Parks, Wm. McIntosh, Jr., Erica Malone, Selma and Daisha Lindsey, Dayton, OH. 3 gt.gt. gd. children. Niece, Dr. Freda Merriweather, Louisville, KY. Nephews Ronnie and Quentin Ridgeway, Milwaukee, WI., Michael Scott.

Funeral Services will be held, Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Rev. Leroy Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
