George Michael McClure (Mike), 63, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at his office in Hartford City. He was born October 5, 1945, in Muncie the son of George Everett and Betty Jean McClure. Mike was a 1963 graduate of Muncie Central High School and served in the United Sates Army stationed in Germany. He obtained his Bachelors degree as well as his Masters degree in Business Administration from Ball State University and obtained his C.P.A. in 1986.
He was employed at Ball Corporation, Dayton Walther, and Hartford City Paper. Mike was the Chief Financial Officer of Hartford City Paper and Forrest Resources prior to his death.
Mike was a devoted family man and the best father anyone could ever have.
He was an avid Ball State fan and enjoyed spending time with his wife, son, daughter, and two young granddaughters.
Mike inspired all of us with his sound advice and kind gentle presence.
Mike is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Linda (LaRue) McClure; his mother, Betty Jean McClure; one son, Michael E. McClure, (wife-Amy), Muncie; one daughter, Ashley J. McClure; one sister, Karen McClure, Honolulu, HI; and his granddaughters, Emily and Meredith McClure.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Everett McClure.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 2700 W. Moore Rd., with Rev. Melodie Wager officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Road 3, Muncie, In, with Military Rites conducted by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guards.
Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
