Georgel Gene Campbell, 74, of Dunkirk, went to be with the Lord, Thursday evening, November 29th, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born April 5th, 1938 in Muncie, IN. and was the son of the late Arthur "Pete" & Maxine (Frazee) Campbell.
Georgel was a graduate of Dunkirk High School in 1956. He was retired from AT&T and was employed as a communication specialist with Ball State University. He served many years as a 4-H Leader in Delaware County; he sat on the Board of Directors for the Jay County REMC. He served 12 years on the Delaware Community School Board. A man strong in his faith, he taught Sunday School and was on various boards at Union Chapel Ministries where he was a life long member. Georgel was a very outgoing individual that had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved and cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren greatly.
Georgel is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Martha Nelle Campbell (Hartman); a daughter Susan Wertz (Brad); three sons Mike Campbell (Jill), Doug Campbell, Mike Anderson (Betty Lou); ten grandchildren; two brothers Paul Max Campbell (June) and Harold Smith (Peggy). In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Amy Elizabeth Campbell.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 4th, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at Union Chapel Ministries with Pastors Gregg Parris and Glenn Greiner officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Union Chapel Ministries 4622 North Broadway, Muncie and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorial Contributions can be made to Union Chapel Ministries or the American Cancer Society, with envelopes provided at the church.
