Muncie:
Gerald Eugene Songer, 71, formally of North Miami, FL, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Willow Bend in Muncie. Jerry was born on February 2, 1940 in Swiss, WV to the late Frank Huess and Myrtle Louise (Grose) Songer. Jerry is a 1958 graduate of Royerton High School.
Jerry attended Ball State University before earning his Tool & Die Journayman. Jerry was employed with Chevy for 11 years in Muncie before moving to North Miami and opening his own shop, G.B.S. Tool & Machine. He owned and operated G.B.S. for 25+ years before retiring in 2005. Jerry loved Florida and all it had to offer. He also loved watching sports, spending time with family and friends, and attending one of the summer and/or winter family reunions.
Jerry is survived by his loving children: Richard Brian Songer (wife, Patricia); Robert Bradley Songer (wife, Starlet); and Geraldine Jana Deanne Tina'' Folsom (husband, Kent) all of Muncie; siblings: Don Songer (wife, Norma); Ruth Tomey (husband, Wayne); Cathy Fancil (husband, Jim); Lois Christian (husband, Harold); Johnny Songer (wife, Kris); Burma Massengale (the late Michael); Sam Songer (wife, Bonni Jo); Robert Songer; and Rhonda Clubs; 6 grandchildren: Joe Songer; Josh Songer; Randy Randolph; Amanda Gaehring; Sean Folsom; and Travis Folsom; 2 great-grandchildren: Jacob and Brady Randolph; step-mother Rosalie Songer; cousin Cecil Ray Thomas; and several more cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters: Laura Mae Adams and Emma Jean Overstreet; and brother Larry Songer.
The funeral service will be on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
