Geraldine was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 19, 2010, after fighting a long illness.
She fought her battle with faith and determination, the same way she lived her life. She was born February 18, 1934 in Gadsden, Alabama to Henry Minnifield and Daisy Auls. She graduated from Carver High School and attended Alabama State University.
Geraldine arrived in Muncie in the summer of 1957 and became an integral part of the community. She loved her family dearly and strongly believed in family traditions. She was a community activist and cherished her right to vote. She was a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party, and a frequent contributor to the Muncie Press's Letter to the Editor. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working the newspaper crossword puzzles.
Geraldine was a valued employee of Bell Telephone, United States Postal Service, retired from General Motors where she was a member of Local 499. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Vernetta K. Lipscomb and Reginald L. (Mondell) Lipscomb Sr.; eight grand-children, Tamara Lipscomb, Timothy Mason, Kulayah Butler, Reginald Lipscomb Jr., Bilal Lipscomb, Pennie Lipscomb, Regina Jackson and Elijah Lipscomb; twenty-six great-grand children; sister, Agnes Carter; very special cousin, Ethelyn Boswell; favorite sister-in-law, Nettie Robinson; four nephews; two nieces and a host of cousins and special friends, Doneal Seals, Jean Carol Anthony, Essie Strong, Rosemary Banks, Henry Shields and Troy Washington.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisy Auls; father, Henry Minnifield and granddaughter, Ebony Christian.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Ball Memorial Hospice for the care and attention that they gave to Geraldine and her family during her final days.
Her home coming celebration will be on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and services will begin at 12:00 pm. with Pastor Aston Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory.
