Glenn M. Whitesell, Jr., 87, a resident of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2009 at Windsor Estates Health and Rehabilitation Center in Kokomo. Glenn was a former resident of Redkey, Indiana and a former resident of Muncie, Indiana for 21 years, until moving to Kokomo in 2004.
Glenn was born on July 30, 1922, in Redkey, Indiana, the son of Glenn M. Whitesell, Sr. and Juanita (Hatzell) Whitesell. He graduated from Redkey High School in 1942. He married Waveline (Stouder) on September 26, 1943.
Glenn was a veteran of the Army National Guard for 4 years.
He retired in 1975 from Warner Gear of Muncie, after working there for 32 years and was a member of the Local UAW 287 Union. Glenn was a member of the Masonic Temple in Muncie and the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis. He was a member of the Muncie Assembly of God and the Kokomo Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Waveline Whitesell - Kokomo, Indiana; 3 sons, Marty Whitesell (wife Patricia) - Kokomo, Indiana, Steven Lee Whitesell - Indianapolis, Indiana, David A. Whitesell - Crownpoint, Indiana; 1 step-brother, Merril Bryant - Redkey, Indiana; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Glenn Whitesell will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Holt and Pastor Chuck Griffith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, Indiana.
Visitation for Glenn Whitesell will be held on Monday, September 28, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed towards the Kokomo Assembly of God or the Muncie Assembly of God. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
