Golda F. Murphey, 83, of Albany, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Golda was born March 7, 1930 in Gaston, Indiana to the late Roscoe and Margaritte Reynolds. Golda lived in Albany and graduated from Albany High School in 1948. She had an intense love and devotion to her family and a deep religious faith. She loved to crochet and made many afghans for her family and friends.
Golda is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Charles Myron Murphey; three children, Melinda Lee Murphey, Thelma Jean Thompson (husband Marvin), and Randy Murphey; three grandchildren, Tonya Harris, Matthew Murphey, and Nicole Fields; two sisters, Madonna Maple and Elizabeth Reynolds; two brothers, Orland Reynolds (wife Doris) and Dean Reynolds (wife Tina); and several nieces and nephews.
Golda was preceded in death by a brother, Rollin Reynolds, two sisters, Lois Heniser and Rachel Reynolds; two brothers-in-law, Lester Maple and Morris Heniser; and two sisters who died as infants.
A funeral service to celebrate Golda''s life will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2013 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie, with Pastor Denny Helton officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday and also one hour prior to services from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday at Garden View Funeral Home.
