Grace T. Niec, 84, of Muncie, died Sunday evening, November 18th, 2012, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Masury, OH. on April 27th , 1928 and was the daughter of the late Marino & Josephine (Julian) Larocca, and was the youngest of seven children.
Grace worked at the Westinghouse Medium Transformer plant in Sharon, PA., for ten years prior to her marriage to Edmund L. Niec. They were married in Pittsburgh, PA., in 1957, and were married for 52 years. Grace moved to Muncie in 1961 when Edmund was transferred with the opening of the new Westinghouse Large Transformer plant. Grace was a dedicated homemaker all her life and was always interested in recipes, cooking, and caring for her family.
Grace is survived by three daughters, Carol Howard (Ron), Teresa Pence, and Mary Bicknell (Terry) all of Muncie; five grandchildren, Tabatha Umberger (Kevin), Tiffanie and Anthony Pence, and John (Kaley) Miller and Samuel Miller; a great-grandchild, Presley Cole Miller; a brother Samuel Larocca of West Middlesex, PA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edmund in September of 2009, and a son-in-law Steve Pence in April of 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial, will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary Catholic Church, 2308 West Jackson Street, Muncie with Rev. Andrew Dudzinski celebrant. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
