Gwinnith L. Winningham 81, of Muncie, IN died Friday February 13, 2009 at his residence. He was born on July 25, 1927 in Fentress County, TN the son of Shirley and Pansy (Conatser) Winningham. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On August 20, 1951 he married Alba (Atkins) Winningham. He retired from Borg Warner in 1988 after thirty four years of service as a machine operator. He was the pastor of Community Chapel of God in New Castle, IN.
He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed restoring automobiles and antique furniture. He also loved to whittle out front under the maple tree with his grandchildren. He was the President of Cop Shop 10 neighborhood crime watch. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 433.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife of 58 years, Alba Winningham of Muncie, IN; two sons, Tony Winningham (wife: Krista) of Muncie; Tim Winningham of Muncie; one grandson, Brandon Winningham of Muncie; one granddaughter, Baylea Winningham of Muncie; one brother, Roy Winningham of Jamestown, TN; one sister, Lois Skaggs of Jamestown, TN; one sister-in-law, Etna Conatser and her loving family of Muncie, IN; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Joyce Hatfield (husband: Woodrow), one brother-in-law, Louie Conatser.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 17, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. by lodge number 433. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army or the Muncie Missions.
