Harold G. Burtner, Sr., 81, of Muncie, IN died Friday February 13, 2009 at his residence. He was born on January 16, 1928 in Indianapolis, IN the son of Henry S. and Ethel O. (Overman) Burtner. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1946. On January 30, 1948 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Muncie, he married Theresa M. (Rahe) Burtner. He retired from Borg Warner in 1989 after forty two years of service as a supervisor and inspector.
He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially all his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, sports, and pet animals.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife of 61 years, Theresa Burtner of Muncie, IN; two sons, Harold G. Burtner, Jr. (wife: Bonita) of Muncie, IN; Charles F. Burtner (wife: Cindy) of Souix City, IA; two daughters, Margaret L. Taylor (husband: Richard) of LaGrange, IN; Barbara J. Carter of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren, Matthew and Thomas Taylor both of LaGrange, IN; Christopher Taylor (wife: Annalee) of Charlotte, NC; Terressa and Nathan Burtner both of Muncie, IN; Alex Burtner of Souix City, IA; one great-grandchild, Kolton Taylor of LaGrange, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday February 18, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Rev. Father Dennis Goth will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, Muncie Humane Society, or the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
