Harold Vernon Deeds, 82, of Yorktown, IN, passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 at Parker Health & Rehab Center. He was born on October 22, 1927 in Muncie, IN, to the late Charles George and Dorothy (Ford) Deeds. Harold graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1948. Harold later married Mary Irene McGungill.
Harold was employed with Broadricks for 34 years as a planer operator. Harold also worked in the office at Indiana Steel & Wire; worked for Warner Gear picking up shavings; worked for Muncie drug stores decorating their windows; as well as drove a taxi cab. Harold also farmed for 20 years; was an excellent woods craftsman; and a world traveler. Harold also helped raise a grandson and granddaughter and enjoyed his grandchildren''s activities.
Harold is survived by his three children: Pam Bogan (husband, Daryl) of Hagerstown, IN; Steven V. Deeds (wife, Sue) of Columbia City, MO; and Janet Deeds of Muncie, IN; second spouse Thelma Lee Deeds of Yorktown, IN; two half brothers: Bobby Geiger of Dunkirk, IN; and Donnie Geiger of New Castle, IN; step brother Bill Geiger (wife, Martha) of Albany, IN; half sister Jean Brown of Pennville, IN; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Irene McGungill of 40 years; 2 sisters; and 1 step brother. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Windsor, IN. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 13, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana, 5035 W.
