Harold Wesley, 84, of Muncie, died Wednesday evening, February 18, 2015. He was born September 25, 1930 in Somerset, KY and was the son of the late Joseph & Sereny (Wheeler) Wesley.
Harold retired in October of 1990 from New Venture Gear after 31 ½ years of service. He proudly and honorably served his country while in the United States Navy. Harold was a member of the American Legion Post #387 in Gaston. He loved his family greatly and especially his grandchildren. Harold enjoyed and loved his dog "Reggie".
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Edith (Bates) Wesley of Muncie, whom he married on September 13, 1959; a daughter Trish Youngblood (Carey) of Muncie; a son DeWayne Wesley (Cheryl) of Gaston; four grandchildren, Wesley Youngblood of Muncie, Cameron Youngblood of Fishers, Lucas Wesley (Michelle) of Loogootee, and Whitney Wesley of Terre Haute; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers, Harlan, Jessie, Chester, Alonzo, Charles, and Earl Wesley; three sisters Anna Gaddis, Molly Dick, and Edna New.
Funeral Services for Harold will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Brandon Petro officiating. Burial with Military Honors being conducted by the United States Navy and the Delaware County Honor Guard will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
