Harvey J. Welsh, 87, a long time resident of Albany, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 at the home of his son, Larry Welsh, in Eaton.
He was born December 13, 1921, to the late Charles and Ruby (Curtis) Welsh, in Matthews, Indiana.
He worked the family farm and later, after marrying Leona Irene Cochran on August 30, 1947, was employed with Muncie Malleable. He retired from Dayton Walther Manufacturing, formerly Muncie Malleable, in 1984. Being a devout Christian, he loved to share and spread God's word.
He is survived by his former spouse, Irene Welsh; children, Rick (wife, Sandy) of Ft. Wayne, David of Arizona, Larry (wife, Evelyn) of Eaton, Bill of Wabash, James of Oklahoma, Martha Little (husband, Gary) of DeSoto, Tony of Eaton, Becky Moles (husband, Gary) of Eaton, Dean (wife, Teresa) of Shideler, and Rodney of Eaton; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Murphy of Muncie, and Jearldean Ault of Yorktown; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruby Welsh; brother, Curtis Welsh; sisters, Mary Katheryn Rumple, Ruth Burton, Garnet Welsh and Doris Welsh; and grandson, Kevin Bice.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Parson Mortuary with Rev. Everett Bilbrey, Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m Tuesday and an hour prior to the services Wednesday at the mortuary.
