Hayward A. Thomas, Jr., 73, of Muncie, IN died on December 9, 2006 at the Renaissance Specialty Hospital in Muncie, IN. He was born on April 19, 1933 in Muncie, IN the son of Hayward, Sr. and Helen Thomas. On October 16, 1953 in Muncie he married Beverly Wagner who preceded him in death in 1995.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, visiting the horse track, and playing bingo. He was a member of the Moose, Eagles, and the Elks. For 20 years he called Bingo at the Moose.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Debra Spriggs (husband: Dennis) of Niles, MI; Teresa Prater of Muncie, IN; and Brenda Pokorny of Muncie, IN; seven grandchildren, Brandy Klooze; Justin and Brooks Prater; Amber and Ashley Spriggs; Ryan Pokorny; and Caitlyn Pokorny; two great-grandchildren, Averey and Ashlyn Klooze. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 13, 2006 at the Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Coleman Barlow will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Military rites will be done by the Delaware County Honor Guard. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 12, 2006. Also friends may visit the funeral home from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the American Heart Association or the Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
