Helen L. (St. Clair) Hooke-Parks, age 93 of Muncie, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Albany Health Care after an extended illness. Helen was born May 11, 1918 in Albany, IN to Asa E. and Blanche (Leuellen) St. Clair.
She was a homemaker and also worked many years in the cafeteria at DeSoto School and also at St.Clairs Restaurant in Albany. She was an avid reader and an accomplished pianist and played for many years at DeSoto United Methodist Church where she was a long time member. She and her first husband, Herman Hooke, developed the Walnut Grove Golf Course in Albany, now the Albany Golf Club, as it was her vision to develop the course.
Helen is survived by her husband of nine years, Marion Parks, Jr.; daughters, Kay Gibbs, of Albany and Barbara Kanedy, (husband David), of Albany; grandchildren, Rick, Andy and Jack Jeffers, all of GA, Kerri Smith, (husband Mike), of Fishers, IN and Julie Bocock (husband Chad), of Fishers, IN; great grandchildren, Lee, Luke and James Jeffers, Tanner and Hunter Smith and Caitlin and Aiden Cox. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Herman Hooke, and brothers Gerald and James St. Clair.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:30 AM at DeSoto United Methodist Church, 6309 N. CR 500 E, Muncie, IN 47303 with Pastor Frank Oakman officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie, IN. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until time of service at the church. Garden View Funeral Home, Muncie, will be assisting with arrangements. The family would like to thank the staff at Albany Health Care for the loving care she received. The family requests memorial contributions to the DeSoto United Methodist Church or the donor''s charity of choice.
