Helen Beatrice DeVaney, 85, of Muncie, died early Friday morning, September 27th, 2013 at the home of her daughter Deborah, in Smiths Grove, KY. She was born April 16th, 1928 in Indianapolis, IN and was the daughter of the late Harry O. & Edna L. (Wilson) Kidder.
Helen attended the Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Muncie, where she was active in the 55 ALIVE Club. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Helen was active in the Body Recall Exercise Group, and was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her three children, Sandra K. Merz (Larry) of Muncie, Deborah S. DeVoe (Rick) of Smiths Grove, KY, and Jesse S. DeVaney, Jr. (Brooke) of Austin, TX; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jesse S. DeVaney, Sr. in 1992; two brothers and three sisters also preceded her death.
Funeral Services for Helen will be held Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick DeVoeofficiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call Monday, September 30th, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
