HARTFORD CITY - Helen Elizabeth McGary, 91, died at 11 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at her residence.
She was born on April 15, 2010 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Walter F. McFarland and the late Florence (Buckingham) McFarland.
Helen graduated from Hartford City High School in 1937.
She married Robert "Bob" N. McGary on September 1, 1938 in Hartford City. He precedes her in death on September 2, 2006.
Helen spent 25 years working at Citizens State Bank as the Secretary for Robert Renner. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). A life member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority and a member of Does Elks (Ladies of the Elks). She was an avid Bridge player and loved her dog, Abby and her cat, Chuck.
Helen will be sadly missed by her son, Larry Robert (wife, Melanie) McGary of Hartford City; grandchildren, Matthew R. (fianc, Kim Thacker) and Michael L. McGary; sister-in-law, Leona Nelson of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Mary Huggins.
Graveside funeral services for Helen will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie with Rev. Keith Kincaid of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) officiating. Burial will follow.
Helen's wishes were no visitation.
