Henry Harris, Jr., died Tuesday evening, June 23rd, 2015 at his residence. He was born February 17th, 1924 in Greenwood, Mississippi to Henry Harris and Hattie Mae (Dunley) Harris.
Henry enlisted in the Army and was a truck driver during WWII. While in the Army, he married Kattie Mae (Lott) Harris on March 11th, 1947. After leaving the Army he an Kattie moved to Muncie where he worked at Indiana Galvanized, then he went to work at Marhoeffer, where he worked for 29 years. While working at Marhoeffer he became a reserve police officer. Once leaving Marhoeffer he moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he took a job at Cherry Burwell and worked for 10 years, then retiring. During that time he gave his life to Christ. Henry and Kattie moved back to Muncie and became members at Antioch Baptist Church until his death. Proceeding him in death is his mother and father, his wife Kattie, his daughter Arzella and his sons Reggie and William; brothers Johnny Harris, William Harris, Miller Harris, Dan Harris, and Tommie Harris; sisters Anna C. Young, Ola Mae Buckley, Louise Langston, and Maime Ree Harris.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister LeOla Harris; son Wayne Harris; daughters Hattie Mae Ware (Pip), Ruth McIntosh; 19 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Henry will be held Tuesday, June 30th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Edward Long officiating. Burial with military honors being conducted by the United States Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
