H.G. Blackwood of Muncie, Indiana passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday December 21, 2022. He was born on June 11, 1939 in Ethridge, Tennessee to the late Detroy and Ruby (Huckaba) Blackwood.

He worked for 30 years at General Motors retiring in 1990. In addition, he was a television repairman for several years. He became a Journeyman Carpenter who had his own carpentry business after retirement.

H.G. could fix anything mechanical and he was an artist who made musical instruments including dulcimers, violins, mandolins, and guitars. His favorite pastime was Fishing with friends and family.

H.G. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grarndfather. He married Effie Blackwood on December 23, 1959 in Muncie, Indiana. She was the love of his life. He also enjoyed cooking, camping, and attending his grandchildren's athletic and school events.

H.G. is survived by his children, Tamara Bell (husband, Mark), Jeff Blackwood, and Terry Blackwood, brothers, Tommy Blackwood, Wayne Blackwood (wife, Lynn) and Merlin Blackwood; brothers-in-law Keith Staggs (wife, Karen), Thomas Roberts; grandchildren, Aaron Blackwood, Alexandra Blackwood, Ashley Bell-Montgomery (husband, Peter), Kyle Bell (wife, Courtney), and Brock Bell (wife, Mackenzie); and great grandchildren, Kohen, Deacon, and Maclaren.

H.G. was preceded in death by his loving wife, Effie (Staggs) Blackwood, parents, Detroy and Ruby (Huckaba) Blackwood, sister, Evelyn Roberts, and sister-in-law, Helen Marie Drown.

Calling will be on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Garden View funeral Home, 10501 N. St. Rd. 3, Muncie, Indiana from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Service will be at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Bruce Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
