Hilda Delight Dewees, 92, of Gaston, IN, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born on October 21, 1917 in Blackford County, IN to the late Ross and Eva (Burson) Dick.
Hilda graduated from Roll High School in Montpelier, IN. Hilda married Ferrell Samuel Dewees, on April 21, 1944 in Blackford County. Hilda was a retail sales supervisor for J.C. Penney''s in Muncie for 35 years, retiring in 1982.
Hilda was a Deaconess for Union Grove Church of the Brethren for many years. Hilda thoroughly loved and enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and great-granchildren.
Hilda is survived by her son, Robert Dewees (wife, Janet) of Gaston; two daughters: Deborah Hertle (husband, Gerald) of Gaston, and Dena Niccum (husband, Gary) of Yorktown; brother Ross Dick, Jr. of Columbia City, IN; sister Ruth Baker (husband, Bill) of New Castle, IN; sister-in-law Joann Dick of Hartford City; 8 grandchildren: Vickie Raborn; Lane Dewees; Trent Dewees (wife, Kari); Kyle Love; Brett Dewees (wife, Jennifer); Gina Stephens (husband, Michael); Jason Niccum (wife, Cami); and Jared Niccum (wife, Laura); and 11 great-grandchildren: Kristian & Dustin Raborn; Alyssa & Mathew Dewees; Jacob & Jaclyn Love; Blake Dewees; Gara Childers; Brinley & Davis Niccum; and Hope Niccum.
Hilda was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, Ferrell Dewees; 3 brothers: Max, Robert, and Richard Dick; and 2 sisters: Susan Dick, and June France.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN. Pastor Bob Ewert will officiate the service. Internment will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2009 at the funeral home.
