Hilton T White, 80, of Muncie, IN passed away Wednesday May 7, 2008 at Muncie Health and Rehabilitation. He was born on August 14, 1927 in Dennison, KS the son of Lloyd White and Irene (Thompson). He worked as a industrial engineer most of his life. He married his wife Lydia Joan White(Bloss) on August 27, 1950 in Cameron, MO.
Hilton loved animals especially his dog Chelsie. He was an avid gardener who grew vegetables for his family every year. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Iowa Battleship in World War II. He graduated from Maryville Teachers College in MO. He taught math and fine arts in Des Moine, IA. He was a Master Craftsman who built fine furniture. Hilton cherished his wife and children and will sadly be missed. He moved his family to Indiana in 1955 retiring from General Motors in 1985
Surviving relatives includes his wife Joan White of 57 years; two sons Michael (Diane) White of Mineral Springs, NC; Brian (Janet) White of Eaton, IN; two daughters, Yhvonne (Tupper) Swaim of Shamrock Lakes, IN; Janean Christie of Hartford City, IN; one brother Manetha ( Naomi) White of Platsburg, MO; two sisters Juanita Prather of Maryland; Wanda (Jim) Corn of Montana; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter; Kimberly Rhetta White.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday May 10, 2008 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 N. State Road 3 in Muncie. Pastor Rusty Clemets will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday May 9, 2008 at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Muncie Health and Rehabilitation.
