Howard Jason Smith, age 28, of Muncie, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 27, 2011 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. Jason was born December 15, 1982 in Muncie to Hollis and Sherrial (Privett) Smith. He attended Morrison Mock, Grissom, Wilson Jr. High, and Muncie Southside High School, graduating with the Class of 2001. He was a participant in Special Olympics for 6 years. He loved to swim and was an avid train enthusiast. Jason attended New Horizon Church of the Nazarene.
Jason is survived by his parents, Hollis and Sherrial, of Muncie; sisters, Lorie Smith, of Muncie, Barbara Gommel, of Muncie and Debbie Lacy, (husband Don) of Muncie; half-brother, David Lee Henry, (wife Janie) of Buffalo, OH; nieces, Kayley Lacy and Tecarrie Henry; nephew, David Henry. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dorothy Jones, and Howard and Maggie Smith; uncles, Mike Privett and Frank Sells; special cousin, Cynthia Hensley.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN 47303 with Pastor Mike Konkle officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
