Ila J. Sims, age 88, of Muncie, IN passed away on Wednesday January 1, 2014 at Middletown Nursing and Rehabilitation in Middletown, IN. Born on May 16, 1925 in Geraldine, Alabama she was the daughter of John and Mary (Morgan) Guice. She was the seventh of fifteen children.
Ila worked as the manager for Superior Laundry in Muncie for several years. She was a member of the Madison Street United Methodist Church. She loved her plants and flowers and was also quite the green thumb, growing the biggest ferns you could find.
Survivors include son Ronald Sims of Springport, IN; daughters Marcia (Steve) Hughes of Muncie and Sandi White of Hebron, KY; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; sisters Mary Sue Dobbs of Jacksonville, FL, Jean Arledge of Gadsden, AL, and Kay Gordon of Montgomery, AL; brother James Guice of Geraldine, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Garden View Funeral Home 10501 N. Indiana 3, Muncie. Funeral services for Ila will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
