Imogene Joyce Parsons, age 71, of Muncie, passed away at her home on January 1, 2012 with her family at her side. She was born January 21, 1940 in South Charleston, WV to Milton and Irene (Flynn) Graley. Imogene worked in Housekeeping at Ball State University for 17 years before retiring. She loved to decorate her home and garden and spend time with her family. She married Bobby Joe Parsons, Sr. on September 3, 1960 and he preceded her in death on August 21, 1994.
Imogene is survived by her sons, Bobby Joe Parsons, Jr. (wife Marie), Arlie Parsons, (wife Debbie) and Brian Parsons, all of Muncie; daughters, Dreama Parsons, Mary Nixon (husband Chris), Tammy Martin, (husband Phil) all of Muncie and Karen Helvie, (husband William) of Anderson; brothers, Kyle Graley (wife Delores), and Robert Graley, both of WV; sisters, Betty Bailey (husband Fred) of Eaton, IN and Shelby Turner (husband Charles) of WV; 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3 Muncie, IN 47303 with Rev. Michael Graley officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, to The American Heart Association.
