Irene Loisetta Druckemiller, 89, of Muncie , IN died at 8:00 a.m. on Monday October 8, 2007 at Muncie Health and Rehabilitation Center . She was born on March 2, 1918 in Morehead , KY the daughter of John and Hazel (Tussey) Tirey. She married Merritt Druckemiller who preceded her in death in 1967.
She retired after 20 years as an assistant manager of the Deb-N-Heir childrens store on West Jackson Street in Muncie . She was a founding member of the 16th Street Church of God. Irene devoted her life to her church while serving on numerous committees and was a longtime enthusiastic member of the choir.
She loved her family very much and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Surviving relatives include three sons and one daughter, Larry Druckemiller (wife: Sharon of Muncie, IN; Gary Druckemiller (wife: Mary Jane) of Oxford, Miss.; Sandy Hitchcock (husband: Terry) of Muncie, IN; Jan Druckemiller (special friend: Shelly Moore) of Muncie, IN; three sisters, Blanche Fickert (husband: Jim) of Orlando, FL; Wanda Powell of Bradenton, FL; Sylvia Griffis (husband: William) of Muncie, IN; twelve grandchildren, Kellie Hoover of Colorado; Kemper Druckemiller of Florida; Lance Druckemiller (wife: Tammy) of Bloominton, IN; Alan Druckemiller (wife: Susan) of Johnston, Iowa; Mitchell Druckemiller of Bloomington, IN; Allyson Hitchcock Martin (husband: David) of Indianapolis, IN; Stephanie Hitchcock Varner (husband: Jason) of Indianapolis, IN; Craig Nuckols (wife: Nichole) of Selma; Carrie Cherry (husband: Todd) of Selma, IN; Dan Myers (wife: Amy) of North Manchester, IN; Sally Myers of Yorktown, IN; Susan Myers of Yorktown; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband, one son, Monte Druckemiller (infant), three sisters, Jean Newton, Cora Voke, and Myrtle Turney.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday October 12, 2007 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Rev. David Hershey will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie . Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and also on Friday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
