Irene Jones, 79, passed away March 31, 2022 at Signature Assisted Living. Irene was born June 29, 1942 in Como, MS, the daughter of the late Robert Gibson and Mary Bobo.

Irene was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church from 1980 and remained until illness prevented her from attending. While a member she was on the usher board, Pastor's aide and was over the Center where they prepared dinners for various occasions.

Irene was a self-educated chef, there was no such thing as measuring spoons and cups when she prepared a dish and it always came out perfect. She held a chef position at the Delaware Country Club until retirement.

Irene leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Darlean (Kenny) Ray of Upper Marlboro, MD. A Brother Willie (Eliza) Thomas of Muncie, IN,. A cherished granddaughter Mia Nicole Ray of Upper Marlboro, MD. Nephews Robert (Lorenda) of Kansas City and Craig (Kari) Thomas of Bismark, ND. three step daughters Linda Diane Jefferson, Jacqueline (Donald) Smith both of Antioch, TN and Willa M. Baxter of Chicago, IL. Two step-sons Ken (Renee) Mccray of Danville, IL and Cherry (Debra) Mabry of Antioch, TN. a host of other grands, relatives and friends. Special friends from Signature Assisted Living, Mary Reynolds, James Prince and Larry Edwards her "Spoilers".

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Solomon Jones, son Gregory Wayne Thomas, daughter Samanatha Thomas and Aunt Pearlie Mae Young.

Calling will be from 11:00 A.M. to the time of the service on Friday April 8, 2022 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. St. Rd. 3, Muncie, IN. 47303.  Memorial Service will be 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Ashton Chambers officiating.
