Jack Lee Fry, 81, of Hartford City, passed away the evening of Monday, June 8th, 2015 at Miller''s Merry Manor of Hartford City surrounded by family. Amazing Grace was playing as he made his way home. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
He was born March 19th, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio, to Albert and Alice (Sawyer) Fry. Working from a young age, Jack was a dedicated team member wherever he was employed. He worked two jobs and helped take care of their young children while his wife finished college. Most of his career focused on forklift and over-the-road driving. He served his country during the Korean War as a naval shipmate on the U.S.S. Bremerton CA-130. He was a proud member of the American Legion and AMVETS. He was an avid reader, enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and loved driving his truck.
Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna Fry; his son Jack Fry Jr. and daughter Jeannie (Rick) Cain both of Hartford City and daughter JoAnn (Joe) Long of Cambridge, MN; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Richard Fry; sisters Sharon Garlinger and Sarah (Bob) Stevens; sister-in-law Bev Fry; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services for Jack will be held Wednesday, June 17th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home. Burial will follow with military honors being conducted by the United States Navy and the Delaware County Honor Guard in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16th, 2015 and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the AMVETS or the Wounded Warrior''s with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
