Jack L. Ross, age 81, passed away December 18th, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 17th, 1942 to Clifford and Gladys Cook-Ross.
Jack grew up in the little town of Wheeling, Indiana. He spent most of his spare time fishing and hanging out with his buddies getting into trouble. He graduated in 1960 from Gaston High School. After graduation he became employed at Delco Remy Battery Plant in Muncie. He retired after 38 years with his last position working on prototype batteries for electric cars in 1998.
Jack married his "baby doll" Sharon Kocher in 1963. They were happily married for 41 years before she passed in 2005. He was a US Army Veteran, drafted in 1966 and was stationed in Germany. Jack was a first in his class as a sharp shooter. He delivered intel to commanding officers all over Germany.
He enjoyed going to basketball and football games, camping, fishing, and keeping his yard beautiful. He was known in his neighborhood as The Mayor of Norwood. He always looked after his neighbors property when they were away.
Jack is survived by his son, Chad Ross (wife Denise) of Eaton, a grandson, Logan Ross of Eaton, a granddaughter Kara Ross of Eaton, a brother Rob Ross (wife Janice) of Eaton, sister Marsha Patton (husband Boyd) of Gaston, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife Sharon Kocher Ross, grandson Michael C. Ross, parents Clifford and Gladys Ross, and a sister Cathy Ross.
Services for Jack will be held at Garden View Funeral Home in Muncie, Indiana. Viewing will be 10:00am - 12:00pm with graveside services immediately following for those who want to attend.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Brianna's Hope in memory of Michael Ross or to the American Cancer Society in memory of Sharon Ross.
