Jack Small, 80, passed away Friday morning, May 29, 2009 at his residence, with his family by his side.
He was born December 2, 1928 in Kermit, West Virginia, the son of Fred and Lillian (York) Small.
Jack loved his family, being with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing and his family pets.
Jack worked from 1964 until his retirement in 1991 at Chevrolet, Muncie. He had also worked many jobs at Warner Gear, as a Brick Mason, Glenn Tire, Ball Brothers, and as a Coal Miner and the Gas Company, both in West Virginia.
He served in the United States Army from 1962 until 1964 during the Korean War.
Jack was a member of the Masonic Lodge #167, F &AM in Kermit, WV.
Jack is survived by three sons, Jack E. Small, (wife-Sheila), Muncie; Nat E. Small, (wife-Amy), Noblesville; Rickie A. Small, (wife-Cindie) Noblesville; one daughter, Freda M. Small, (friend-Ed), Muncie; nine grandchildren, Jack E. Small II; Lora L. Morgan; (husband-Joseph); Tyler A. Small; Hannah N. Small; Ashley P. Small; Renee Small; Thomas Revard; Will Revard and Keith A. Thrasher; one brother, Jim Small, (wife-Christine), Selma; two sisters, Joann Estepp, (husband-John) and Betty Thrasher, both of Muncie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of fifty-seven years, Verta; siblings, Fredrick Small, Maxine Lovins, Leo Small, Billy Small, and Minerva Small and two brothers-in-law, Donald Thrasher and Clarence Lovins.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Rev. James McCowan officiating.
Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN.
Friends may call from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
Military Rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
